For the second consecutive match day, it came down to the final set.
Fresh off a one-point loss in Bedlam to No. 2 Oklahoma, OSU returned to action at the Greenwood Tennis Center in hopes of ending the regular season on a strong note heading into Big 12 championships.
A sweep in doubles play would put the Cowgirls up early. However, Pepperdine responded with three singles victories from the start.
With their backs against the wall, coach Chris Young’s squad showed tenacity and grit, responding with two consecutive victories from Lisa Marie-Rioux and Mananchaya Sawangkaew to tie the match at three apiece.
The Cowgirls found themselves in a similar situation to Saturday night; the score tied at three with the deciding match coming down to the last set.
After dropping the first set, Alana Wolfberg surged in her second set to force a decisive third set. It ended up going point-for-point.
Wolfberg prevailed in the end, defeating Nikki Redelijk of Pepperdine by one to clinch a 4-3 upset bid over fifth ranked Pepperdine for the Cowgirls. The victory on Sunday marks win No. 100 all-time for OSU in the Greenwood Tennis Center.
With the win, the Cowgirls finished the regular season 17-4.
