After two games as the Oklahoma State football team’s starting quarterback, Spencer Sanders received a conference honor.
Sanders, a redshirt freshman from Denton, Texas, is the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
In the Cowboys’ victory against McNeese State on Saturday, he had 250 passing yards and threw for three touchdowns. Sanders played until 11:15 were left in the third quarter, when backup Dru Brown entered the game.
Through two games, Sanders has thrown no interceptions and has established himself as a dual threat with 160 rushing yards.
Sanders and the Cowboys (2-0) will take on Tulsa at 2:30 p.m. Saturday on the road.
