Freshman Texas Tech quarterback Donovan Smith was given a chance to put the Red Raiders on the scoreboard.

After Oklahoma State went up 13-0, thanks to a touchdown pass from quarterback Spencer Sanders to receiver John Paul Richardson in the third quarter, Smith attempted to respond.

However, OSU defensive lineman Tyler Lacy had other plans for the young quarterback.

Lacy strip-sacked Smith and linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez jumped on the ball giving it right back to the Cowboy offense.

Tanner Brown kicked a field goal and put the Cowboys up 16-0 over the Red Raiders in the third quarter. This key defensive play from Lacy carried the momentum throughout the ballgame as the Cowboy defense shutout the Red Raiders 23-0 in Lubbock, Texas.
