OSU runs the distance at Drake and Arkansas

The Oklahoma State men's and women's track and field teams fought through a packed weekend at Drake University and the University of Arkansas.

Drake Relays

The Cowgirls’ distance team brought its brooms to Iowa as they swept the distance events for the third time.

On Friday, Jenny Martinez, Ariane Ballner, Kaytlyn Larson and Sinclaire Johnson set a meet record. They ran the 4x800-meter relay, finishing with a time of 8:25.41. Johnson completed her stretch of the event with a time of 2:02.79. It was the third-best time in school history and third-best in the NCAA this season.

Johnson then ran in the 4x1600-meter relay with Morgan Szekely, Molly Sughroue and Taylor Somers. They finished almost eight second in front of the field.

The Cowboys took home a victory in the 4x1600-meter relay with a time of 16:39.79.

On Saturday, the Cowgirls completed the sweep in the distance events with a distance medley relay victory. The women’s DMR team completed the race with a time of 11:15.18.

National Relay Championships

Jacob Fincham-Dukes won the long jump event with a hop of 7.96m/26-1.5, which matched his own school record. He jumped to No. 7 in the country.

Ashton Hicks placed second in the 400-meter race with a time of 45.68. Hicks moved up to No. 6 in the country. 

The Cowboys and Cowgirls tie-up their season in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Friday at the Arkansas Twilight.
