Two Cowgirls, senior defender Kim Rodriguez and sophomore forward Olyvia Dowell, earned spots on the 2020 All-Big 12 First Team.
Rodriguez and Dowell dazzled all season long, earning a spot among the best players in their conference.
Both players were placed on the Preseason All-Big 12 team, illustrating the respect they had already garnered around the conference coming into the 2020 season. Dowell and Rodriguez delivered on lofty expectations all season while helping their team to a 6-2-1 finish.
This marks the second time Rodriguez has been named to the All-Big 12 first team — a rare feat at OSU. Rodriguez is now one of just six players to be selected to the team multiple times.
Rodriguez showcased rock-solid defense for the Cowgirls all season long. The senior captained the strong backline for her team and took the occasional free-kick. She also started every game and never subbed out — showing just how much coach Colin Carmichael relied on her veteran leadership.
Dowell led the Big 12 in shots (37) and finished in a tie for fourth in the conference in goals (4). In just her second season, she was a consistent source of offense for the Cowgirls all season long. The sophomore scored in 4/9 games in the shortened season.
On multiple occasions this season, Dowell netted game-winning goals with mere seconds on the clock, cementing her as one of the most clutch scorers in the Big 12.
