The lights of Boone Pickens Stadium will be getting a workout in September.
On Thursday, Oklahoma State Football announced kickoff times and broadcasts for its first three games, and all games are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. or later inside Boone Pickens Stadium.
The Thursday season opener against Central Michigan on Sept. 1 will kick off at 6 p.m. and aired on FS1. The last time the Chippewas came to Stillwater (2016), they upset the Cowboys 30-27.
The Cowboys’ next game against Arizona State is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, and it will be broadcast on ESPN2. The Sun Devils lead the all-time series, 2-1, with the last matchup coming in 1993.
In Week 3, a 6 p.m. kickoff is slated for OSU’s final non-conference matchup against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday, Sept. 17. The game will be available on ESPN+. This will be the Pokes’ first meeting with the Golden Lions.
The last time the Cowboys opened the season with three-straight night games was in the 2011 Big 12 Championship season, where they played another Pac-12 foe, the Arizona Wildcats.
One year previous, 2010, is the most recent season in which OSU has played three home night games to start the season. Coincidentally, a Pac-12 school was featured in that non-conference slate as well – Washington State.
In the past five season, the Cowboys boast a 12-2 record in home night games (6 p.m. or later) – including a perfect 6-0 mark in 2021 – compared to a 10-7 record in daytime home games.
