Oklahoma State wins Blue Gray Classic by sweeping on final day

The Oklahoma State women's tennis team swept Texas Tech and No. 33 Wake Forest to clinch the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic title.

Cowgirl Lisa Marie Rioux put on a series of dominant performances throughout the weekend that earned her tournament MVP honors. Rioux went 3-0 on the weekend, including a victory against No. 96 Anna Ulyashchenko of Wake Forest, 6-1, 6-1, to finish the weekend.

The No. 17 doubles pair of Sofia Blanco and Catherine Gulihur also went undefeated over the weekend. The duo would defeat Texas Techs Kennedy Bridgforth and Lana Rush, 6-3, before winning against the No. 45 pair Chandler Carter and Emma Davis, 6-2, in the championships. 

The Cowgirls pairing of Bunyawi Thamchaiwat and Tamara Arnold clinched the doubles point in the final, 7-5, against MC Meredith and Eliza Omirou. The Cowgirl duo was down three points on court two before rallying for the win. 

Blanco and Thamchaiwat won their second matches of the weekend in the final day of tournament play. Blanco defeated Wake Forest’s Peyton Pesavento, 6-4, 6-3, and Thamchaiwat secured a victory against Texas Tech’s Nell Miller, 6-3, 6-0.

OSU will next play on March 8 when it hosts Gonzaga at 5:00 p.m.
