OSU head coach Jay Udwadia looks on the action during the No. 27 Oklahoma State vs. No. 17 Oklahoma Big 12 Conference tennis game at Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman on Friday, March 29, 2019.

OSU Cowboy men’s tennis coach Jay Udwadia has chosen to take a leave of absence from the team.

Udwadia announced his decision to leave would be effective immediately.

Udwadia said that he wants to focus on taking care of his daughter at this time.

“There have been some unforeseen circumstances since our daughter’s birth that require attention, and this is a time for me to be the most supportive husband and father I can be,” Udwadia said.

Assistant head coach Scoville ‘Sco’ Jenkins will take over as the interim head coach for the time being.

“We have an excellent team and I know the guys will play hard for the school and represent OSU well,” Udwadia said.

Cowgirl head coach Chris Young said that the team will be in good hands for now.

“We wish Jay well as he shifts his focus to his family during this time,” Young said. “We have confidence in Scoville and we know he’ll do a great job.”
