Spencer Sanders

On Saturday night, Oklahoma State clinched a berth to the Big 12 Championship game with a win against Texas Tech on the road.

On third-and-goal, from the Texas Tech 2-yard line, OSU quarterback Spencer Sanders took the snap, turned and threw a dart to wide receiver Tay Martin, who broke free of his defender on a quick slant route. The ball was perfectly placed, Martin was just unable to corral the pass.

That made it fourth-and-goal. Sanders made it clear he wanted to go for it, however, coach Mike Gundy chose to play it safe, sending out the field goal unit as kicker Tanner Brown drilled a 33-yard field goal, extending Oklahoma State’s lead to 6-0.

The Cowboys would go on to win the game 23-0, improving to 10-1.
