Mike Gundy was named to the 2020 American Heart Association Paul “Bear” Bryant Awards watch list.

He is one of 24 coaches to be named to the award, and the list puts Gundy in contention for the Coach of the Year award.

Gundy joins Lincoln Riley, Matt Campbell and Tom Herman as the Big 12 coaches named to the list.

Each year, the awards honor “Bear’s” legacy by recognizing coaching excellence while raising critical funds for research to eradicate cardiovascular disease through event sponsorships, an auction and individual donations.

The award is given on Jan. 13 during a virtual ceremony.
