Cowboys elevate to No. 9, highest ranked Big 12 school

On Tuesday, the College Football Playoff released its third iteration of top 25 rankings, with Oklahoma State elevating to No. 9. 

The Cowboys cracked the top 10 this past week, and after a 63-17 rout of TCU, moved up one spot, behind No. 8 Notre Dame and No. 10 Wake Forest. 

The Cowboys (9-1, 6-1 Big 12), led by a smothering rushing attack, which tallied 447 yards and eight touchdowns, are now the highest ranked school in the conference. 

Oklahoma, the previous highest ranked Big 12 school, lost 27-14 against Baylor, sliding from No. 8 to No. 13. 

The Bears, rose to No. 11 with the win in Waco, Texas. 

OSU, tied for first place in the Big 12, controls its destiny to reach the conference championship. The Cowboys travel to Lubbock, Texas, to play Texas Tech this Saturday.
