The Cowboys battled it out in the wind, to extend their win-streak.

OSU hosted Omaha outdoors on a windy day in Stillwater. The Cowboys finished the day defeating the Mavericks, 6-1, winning their fifth consecutive game.

In doubles, coach Dustin Taylor debuted the new pairing on court 1, Sebastian Nothhaft and Tyler Zink.

The other Cowboys’ doubles cleaned it up on their courts before Nothhaft and Zink could finish their match out, giving OSU the doubles point. Zink said he likes the new doubles pairing.

“Doubles is all about connection to your partner," Zink said. "I thought we felt good. I did not play the greatest in dubs, and he was returning a lot better than I did. I thought it was a good pairing, and we’re going to see how it goes a little bit more.”

The Cowboys continued to dominate in singles winning five of the six matches.

Francisco Pini kept up his undefeated season with a 6-2, 6-0, win over Omaha’s Alvaro Quintana. Pini improves to 11-0.

The wind became a serious factor in the matches, and Taylor knew he had to game plan against the elements.

“Mentally you got to prepare for a tough day,” Taylor said. “You know in the wind you can’t prepare to play pretty tennis. You can’t expect to play exactly your game style. You gotta get gritty.

"You’re going to have some moments where you should’ve finished the point off and you miss, and find out how you are going to reset.”
