Sure, Cabo is beautiful. But the way the Oklahoma State men’s golf team played in its most recent tournament there was anything but.
The Cowboys posted a 295 during the final round of the Cabo Collegiate on Tuesday at Cabo del Sol/Cove Club Golf Course. This final round was the culmination of a three-day collapse in which the team gradually fell from first place on Day 1 — after shooting 278 — before falling to sixth place on Day 2 and ultimately ninth overall. No. 9 Arizona State won the tournament after carding a total score of 832.
In terms of the players leaderboard, OSU junior Austin Eckroat led all Cowboys. He finished in a five-way tie for 14th place at 211. Senior Ferdinand Müller was right behind Eckroat, finishing in a three-way tie for 19th place at 212.
After this, there was a huge gap. Freshman Brian Stark finished in 42nd place at 218, sophomore Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen finished in 52nd place with 221 and sophomore Aman Gupta tied for 57th place at 223. Freshman Rayhan Thomas competed individually and finished in 29th place at 215.
The Cowboys have yet to finish first in a tournament this season and this is their second-worst finish so far.
