Mike Boynton met with students to discuss some basketball.

The rowdy is back at Gallagher Iba Arena.

Fans prepare for full capacity at GIA several weeks away from the first tipoff of the season.

Fans are not the only ones excited for the upcoming basketball season.

“Absolutely, I cant wait, 13,611, that number is in my head every time I go to sleep at night,” Boynton said. And I know these students are going to have a lot to do with it.”

13,611, the exact capacity of Gallagher Iba Arena and Boynton is expecting every one of those seats to be filled.

OSU announced this past May sporting events would be back to full capacity, following a 2020 season that saw limited capacity at all sporting events.

Boynton and his players are not only excited for the upcoming season but also getting back out and interacting with students on campus again.

For Boynton, his love for OSU goes well beyond basketball.

“This is my favorite part of being here at Oklahoma state, being amongst the kids on campus, spending time here at the union or at other sporting events. I obviously love what I do but this is really where my passion is, for these kids” Boynton said.

That love and loyalty has rubbed off on players, who can be seen interacting with students all over campus. After COVID-19 prevented them from going out on campus much this past year, players are excited for the opportunity to get active on campus again.

“It feels great, were out here just having fun man, this is the experience that we were missing last year.” guard Isaac Likekele said.
