The Oklahoma State Cowgirl basketball team defeated Southern University 68-34 on Wednesday night. OSU started off slowly and remained tied with the Jaguars after one half of play but dominated the second half and cruised to a 2-0 record.

First star: Lauren Fields

Lauren Fields was a thorn in the Southern side all night long. The sophomore guard logged 29 minutes of action and was always around the ball. She led all scorers with 15 points, converting a team-high 7-of-14 field goals. Though she played a lot of minutes and was a key distributor of the basketball, Fields took remarkable care of the basketball — only committing one turnover.

Second star: Natasha Mack

The Mack may not yet be entirely back after only having limited offseason conditioning opportunities, but even when limited, the star OSU forward wields enough talent to dominate. Mack was OSU’s second-leading scorer Wednesday night, putting up 10 points against the Jaguars. She added a game-high nine rebounds and blocked one shot. The block was her 100th career rejection.

Third star: Neferatali Notoa

In a game where the Cowgirls found themselves floundering in the first half, Notoa provided a burst to break through the quagmire. She scored the Cowgirls only 3-pointer of the game to break the tie starting the third quarter and was an efficient scorer all night. Notoa had ninw points, shooting 4 for 8 from the field. She had just one turnover, further heightening her efficiency. The Cowgirls had a plus-26 point differential when Notoa was on the court, showing her impact in all facets of the game.
