First star: Natasha Mack
On a night that most Cowgirls struggled, Natasha Mack shined. Mack finished with 34 points, her new career-high, and pulled 13 rebounds. Mack’s 34 points are more than all four of the starters’ points combined (31). This is the fifth game in a row Mack has posted a double-double, but her dominant play wasn’t enough for the Cowgirls to win tonight.
Second star: Lauren Fields
Fields was the only player off the bench who knocked down a 3-pointer, and she was the only player off the bench to block a shot. She finished with nine points and grabbed four rebounds but good bench play from one player wasn’t enough to outscore the Cyclones as the Cowgirls lost 90-80.
Third star: Lexy Keys
Lexy Keys was the only other Cowgirl to knock down a three as she shot an efficient 4-9 from downtown in the loss. Three of Keys’ four threes came in the second half, but it was too little too late as the Cowgirls trailed for the entirety of the second half. This was a good bounce-back game for Keys as the last time she made at least four 3-pointers was on Dec. 12 in the Cowgirls win over the West Virginia Mountaineers. Keys also dished out eight assists.
