The Oklahoma government coronavirus database reported that there are 53 active COVID-19 cases in Stillwater as of Wednesday.

These new numbers bring the city's total cases to 551 with three deaths and 495 recoveries.

Both Stillwater and the state of Oklahoma continue to see a rise in new cases. On Wednesday, the health department reported 1,101 new cases in the state, bringing the total confirmed positive cases to 40,564.

Oklahoma state officials are encouraging Oklahomans to wash their hands, stay away from sick individuals and avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

The virus is primarily spread from person-to-person with symptoms usually appearing two to 14 days after exposure. The most common symptoms of the coronavirus are fever, cough, and shortness of breath.
