Last October, the Oklahoma State community was made aware of President Burns Hargis’ plans for retirement, effective July 1. Since then the new Presidential Search Committee has been at work trying to find someone willing to try and fill the shoes of President Hargis.
No recent updates have come from the committee, but The O’Colly has reached out to various members for feedback.
“Everything is going well,” said Maegan Berg, a student member of the Presidential Search Committee.
The committee has met only a couple of times, but reports say that good progress is underway. Will Joyce, Stillwater mayor and member of the search committee was happy to share about the group’s progress.
“It’s going well, we’ve met a couple of times. I think it’s a great group,” Joyce said. “The process is moving along the way that we hoped it would.”
Student Government Association President, Jaden Kasitz, also reported good progress.
“The process is going well,” Kasitz said.
Possible candidates include Dr. Kayse Shrum and Linda Livingstone, but the committee has neither confirmed nor denied these propositions.
As the search continues, Hargis works hard to leave OSU better than he found it and make his last few months wearing America’s brightest orange as beneficial for students as possible.
