OSU student and rodeo bull rider Rowdy Lee Swanson died Thursday due to injury that occurred during a rodeo event.

An Oklahoma State University student and member of the rodeo team died Thursday from injuries he suffered while competing in a rodeo event.

According to the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association website, Rowdy Lee Swanson, 20, was competing at the Palo Pinto County Livestock Association’s PRCA Rodeo in Mineral Wells, Texas when he was bucked off a bull.

Swanson was from Duncan, Oklahoma and was studying animal science.

OSU rodeo coach Cody Hollingsworth expressed sorrow in a statement on the team’s official Twitter account.

“He was a big part of our rodeo family and he will be missed immensely. Our thoughts are with the Swanson family at this time," Hollingsworth said in the statement.
