An 18-year-old Oklahoma State student was arrested Monday night and charged with assault and battery.

Stillwater PD brought Seth David Byrd into Payne County Jail after Byrd was arrested walking down North Duncan Street.

The confrontation started when Byrd and the victim, his friend Jarin Fish, started arguing, according to the police report.

During their disagreement, Byrd flung a pair of scissors at Fish, striking him in the thigh. Byrd fled the scene and was later arrested by Stillwater police officers, according to the report.

Byrd's bail was set at $10,000.

Byrd could face up to 10 years in prison or one year in county jail with a fine up to $10,000.
