On Sunday morning multiple power outages were reported in buildings on Oklahoma State University’s campus. Among these reports were numerous residential halls. At 8:30 a.m. over 15 buildings were without power. The problem was on-going and the cause was unknown.

Residents were uncomfortable without power in their dorms for so long, especially on Sunday, a day many students spend a lot of time to study and catch up on weekly assignments.

“When I woke up and heard my fan turn off at 8 a.m. I was very upset,” Crowe said.

OSU has its own power grid, separate from the city of Stillwater. The grid is located on Hester Street and Hall of Fame and provides an internal power source for the campus.

The Colvin Recreation Center also lost power. They released a statement that said that the “power has been restored and the Colvin Recreation Center will reopen at 1 p.m.”

The cause of the power outages remains unknown and the story is still developing. Things seem to be back in order, for the most part, this evening, but facilities management has been unavailable for comment.
