President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden are still in a very contested, confusing race for the 2020 election.

Today is election day. As voters head to the polls, here is a breakdown of both presidential candidates’ stances on contentious issues from their respective website.

Police and Criminal Justice reform

Donald Trump(R):

  • Fully fund and hire more law enforcement officers

  • End “cashless bail” and keep people in jail until trial

  • Increase criminal penalties for assaults on law enforcement officers 

 

Joe Biden(D):

  • End federal use of private prisons and the death penalty

  • Decriminalize cannabis and expunge prior convictions

  • Invest $1 billion per year to reform the juvenile justice system

 

Coronavirus Response

Trump: 

  • Develop and distribute a vaccine in 2020

  • Refill stockpiles and prepare for future pandemics

  • Make Regeneron and other treatments free and available to all Americans

Biden:

  • Rejoin the World Health Organization (WHO)

  • Hire around 100,000 contact tracers

  • Make COVID-19 testing free to all Americans

Biden:
