The string of business burglaries in Stillwater continued this week with two similar cases over the weekend.
Stillwater Police responded to a burglary alarm just before 5 a.m. Saturday at The Garage Burgers at 520 W. Elm Ave.
The suspect reportedly entered the building through the roof, and video surveillance indicated the suspect was spooked when a motion alarm was triggered, according to a media release.
The release also stated the suspect didn’t appear to take anything from the business.
Stillwater Police also responded to a burglary alarm just before 1 a.m. Monday at Hobby Lobby at 521 N. Perkins Road.
The suspect reportedly cut a hole in the roof to enter the store, and again appeared startled on video surveillance when a motion alarm was triggered, according to a media release. Although nothing was taken, there was more than $2,500 in damages, according to a police activity summary.
Stillwater Police Captain Kyle Gibbs said although there’s not enough information to prove whether the burglaries are related, rooftop burglaries are statistically rare.
The two rooftop burglaries this weekend are the third and fourth for Stillwater in 2016. Previous burglaries occurred at Peck’s Lodge, with more than $9,900 in losses, and a pair of attempted burglaries at Frontier Lanes.
One of the attempts at Frontier Lanes involved a failed attempt to enter through the roof.
