A new adult-entertainment venue will open in Stillwater on Jan. 28.
The Doll House, located east of Stillwater on Highway 51 in the former Freddie’s Steakhouse building, will showcase dancers on two stages and feature performers from Las Vegas and New York.
Ernie Bales, who owns the building, has purchased 14 clubs, bars and restaurants in Oklahoma in recent years and turned them into profitable business ventures. In addition to adult entertainment, Bales’ owns bars and clubs that cater to a variety of audiences and feature musical acts ranging from country to rock.
Bales said he decided to open a new club in Stillwater after visiting the city’s only other adult entertainment venue, the Dragon’s Lair, and said the Doll House will be “classier.”
The club will cater to patrons 18 years of age and older and will serve beer but not liquor.
“You’re going to see a lot more clubs coming into college towns because of the liquor laws,” Bales said. “Liquor laws have changed, and they’re killing the clubs. They’re wiping them out left and right. You can’t make any money on liquor any more.”
And that applies to more than just adult entertainment, Bales said.
Bales emphasized that the Doll House will offer a safe environment for its patrons and dancers through their own security staff and working with law enforcement.
Terry Major, whose residence shares a property line with the Doll House’s parking lot, said he’s not too concerned about his new neighbors at this point, despite problems with previous tenants.
“My only issues are noise and privacy, and they seem willing to work on that,” Major said.
Additionally, the club’s crosstown rivals at the Dragon’s Lair welcome the Doll House.
“Welcome to Stillwater,” said David Anderson, who has worked at the Dragon’s Lair for nine months.
“We welcome the opportunity for some competition,” he said. “It will put everybody on their A-game.”
Anderson also invites the Doll House dancers to participate in the Dragon Lair’s upcoming “Stillwater’s Sexiest Girl” contest. Registration for the contest ends Jan. 29.
The Doll House will have 15 to 20 dancers nightly, and Monday nights will be amateur night.
The club will charge $7 for male patrons 18-21 and $5 for males 21 and older. There is no cover charge for women.

To everyone as a whole - Don't post comments on anything ever again unless you're going to fix your typos. It makes yourselves look ignorant.
Freddie Paul's - Thank God you're still open.
Your name - I don't support strip clubs, but I definitely don't shun them. If you think the men are objectifying the women that are dancing... what do you think about the women themselves? Honestly, if a girl is willing to get on stage in front of a group of guys and take her clothes of and dance for them... why shouldn't she be objectified?... because she's already objectified herself.
Anonymous - Don't get all hostile whenever a college newspaper covers a story over the second strip club ever to open up in Stillwater. You obviously can't handle the competition. Loyalty and pride are good qualities to have.... but for a strip club you work for? That's trashy... and so is swearing within the first three words of your comment for a newspaper article online.
Thanks to those who have so kindly called for clarification. We appreciate our customers and love Stillwater!
