An investigation into stolen textbooks resulted in the arrest of an Oklahoma State University student Thursday.

Jaeger David Cox, 21, was arrested on suspicion of grand larceny following an interview about the textbooks at the OSU Police Department, Assistant Police Chief David Altman said Tuesday.

"(Cox) was identified by using surveillance video and by showing a photographic lineup to witnesses at the Student Union Bookstore and at off-campus bookstores," Altman said.

"When the suspect was asked to come in for an interview, he quickly implicated himself in the crime and said he wanted to answer no further questions without speaking with an attorney.

"The interview was then concluded, and the suspect was transported to the Payne County Jail."

Cox has been accused of stealing 12 textbooks from the Student Union Bookstore, including six copies of Operations Management and four copies of Psychology, 2nd edition.

The books have a value of $59.95 to $203.40 if purchased new, according to prices at Cowboy Book. The loss was reported as $2,033.55.

Cox was also accused of obtaining money by false pretenses, a felony, in August 2009. The case was dismissed by request of the state's attorneys, according to the Oklahoma State Courts Network.

Cox was released on bond Friday. The Payne County District Attorney's office has not yet processed charges, an employee at the court clerk's office said.
