Oklahoma State equestrian’s equitation over fences team nearly won a national championship but fell to Auburn in raw scores 677-658 Saturday at Extraco Event Center in Waco, Texas.
Carly Barrick, a senior from Fallbrook, California, shined in her final meet as a member of the Cowgirl equestrian team. Barrick went 5-0 at the national championships and was named to the equitation over fences All-Championship team, along with being named the Most Outstanding Performer in the event.
The Cowgirls fell on Thursday to TCU 10-6 in the first round of the team championships. They tied the Horned Frogs in horsemanship and reigning, but lost 3-1 in both equitation over fences and equitation on the flat. They earned one horse of the year award for reigning, as their horse Boss earned the award for the second time in his career.
