For the Cowgirls, the dream is still alive.
Oklahoma State (13-9, 5-8 Big 12) will travel to College Station, Texas, on Saturday to play Texas A&M. The Cowgirls upset the defending national champions in their last meeting in Stillwater, 57-53, and will look to sweep the series.
"We're pretty much going to try to do what we did last game," Kendra Suttles said. "We're just going to try to slow down and not let them get us in a rush."
Suttles, a sophomore center, recently came back from a four game stretch she missed due to illness. Cowgirl coach Jim Littell is looking for Suttles to return to form in her third game back.
"She understands what we're trying to do offensively," Littell said. "She gives us the ability to step out on the perimeter and not only shoot the ball, but reverse it, as well. We flow a lot better offensively when she's in the game."
OSU will need a healthy Suttles as they try to find an alternative for the poor shooting it has suffered on the road.
"We've been shooting too many 3s," Littell said. "We need to try to go inside and challenge at the rim more than we have.
As the Cowgirls look to defeat the Aggies (18-6, 9-4), they'll also be looking for a resume-building win to help lift them into the 2012 NCAA Tournament. Oklahoma State is currently a bubble team on ESPN.com, meaning they are on the edge of making the top postseason tournament.
"We feel there's games left on our schedule that we can win and need to win," Littell said. "(Postseason) is not out of the question yet."
Although Suttles would enjoy making it to the tournament, she has another goal in mind for her and her teammates.
"We know we have to win," Suttles said. "We haven't been playing our best, so our emphasis on the rest of the games this year is to come out and play our hardest."
