The Oklahoma State equestrian team fell in a close matchup to TCU 11-9 Friday in Fort Worth, Texas.

A commanding performance on the flat propelled the Horned Frogs to their second victory in 11 meets against the No. 8 Cowgirls.

The meet opened with Reining and over fences. The No. 6 Horned Frogs gained an early 2-0 lead after Alex Beneson defeated Abigail Brayman 81-78. The result marked Brayman’s first loss of the season. The Cowgirls (1-4 overall, 1-1 Big 12) made a swift comeback. After Stephanie Helsen edged Josie Ferrante in a 68-67.5 victory in Reining, the meet was tied at five going into the break.

The second half of the meet was a back-and-forth battle. The meet was tied three times during Horsemanship and on the flat. The Horned Frogs (3-2, 2-1) separated themselves from the Cowgirls after taking on the flat 4-1. TCU sealed the victory in its last ride, when Jacey Albaugh topped Katie Schell 89-78.

In OSU’s final meet of 2018, it will get a much-needed break from traveling and saddle up for its second home meet against West Texas A&M on Nov. 9 at Totusek Arena.
