The Oklahoma State softball team couldn’t have gotten off to a better start to conference play.

In the first game of the series, the Cowgirls demolished Baylor 21-2 in five innings Friday in Waco, TX.

OSU’s bats exploded for 14 hits, and the 21-run outburst matched the program’s single-game run record. After going scoreless in the first two innings, the Cowgirls scored every run in the final three.

Michaela Richbourg started off the scoring explosion with a solo homer to begin the third. After Madi Sue Montgomery brought home two more runs, Sydney Pennington blasted a three-run shot to end the inning, her eighth of the year.

Pennington recorded a career-high five RBIs on the day.

The Cowgirls were just getting started though, as they would add 8 more runs in the fourth.

In the frame, Richbourg hit her second home run of the day, a three-run blast to center field. OSU also brought in runs off two bases-loaded walks and an RBI double from Taylor Lynch.

The Cowgirls capped the performance with a 7 more runs in the fifth before the game was run-ruled.

Many Cowgirls got in on the action, as 10 different players recorded a hit.
