On Saturday at midnight, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the Oklahoma City Thunder are trading six-time all-star Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers. This news came just minutes after 2019 NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard signed with the Clippers.
Wojnarowski tweeted the Thunder will receive “a record-setting collection of draft choices.” This was later revealed to be an astounding four unprotected first-round picks, one protected first-round pick and two pick swaps. The deal includes Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Danilo Gallinari.
Leonard apparently “pushed George to find a way to get to the Clippers” and George ” approached [OKC] and requested a trade”.
OKC was “left with no choice and made the best out of a difficult situation. ”
The deal sends George, a California native, back to his home state.
