Cowboys vs. Sooners
The Big 12 Tournament is always a pressure-filled affair.
On each game rides the chance of getting to the NCAA Tournament, improving a seed or to at least get a last-minute upset to feel better about the year.
For the Cowboys, add the fact that they are playing Oklahoma in the opening round on Wednesday in Kansas City, Mo., and it hardly seems like a joking matter.
It still doesn’t stop Matt Pilgrim, though.
In the sixth inning, the fans’ hopes were as high as the deep fly ball Kelsey Anchors hit.
The Golden Hurricane right fielder tracked it down on the warning track, and sighs permeated through the stadium.
OSU fell to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane 6-2 last night at Cowgirl Stadium, marking its first loss to an unranked team this season.
The Cowgirls (16-5) had won 10 of its previous 11 games, its only loss against No. 1 Washington, and two of their wins being against top 20 teams last weekend.
While most OSU students wait for spring break, the Cowboy tennis team will travel to a popular break destination a week early.
The Cowboys will travel from Stillwater to Las Vegas to face Hawaii (6-4) on at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Cowboys will also play University of Nevada, Las Vegas (7-6) on Friday at 1 p.m.
Both matches will be played at the Frank and Vicki Fertitta Tennis Complex.
It’s inevitable.
Anymore, whenever the Bedlam series comes up in conversation, the first thing is always the same thing — 27-0.
The Sooners’ football dominance always seems to overshadow the fact that Bedlam is not just the last game of the football season. It is, indeed, a series.
