Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Oklahoma) presented his plan to balance the federal budget Monday.
The plan, titled "Back in Black," would cut $9 trillion from the federal budget over the next 10 years.
Coburn said the 614-page plan is just the debt agreement both sides are looking for.
"Nine trillion dollars is very reasonable," Coburn told reporters after unveiling the plan. "That sounds idiotic to Washington. It is time to show the American people not only what is possible, but what is necessary."
