Not even Jared Fogle has this much control over what goes on his sandwich.
Which Wich offers fully customized options ranging from vegetarian to peanut butter banana sandwiches. The chain opened in Twenty Something in Kerr-Drummond.
Terry Baker, head of University Dining services said the plan for a custom sub sandwich restaurant on campus has been several years in the making.
“Several years ago we did a student survey on campus and students said they wanted a sub sandwich concept option on campus; that’s when we first considered it.”
Baker said several factors went into choosing Which Wich as a dining option for students.
“We thought about what would bring something exciting and trendy to campus that would satisfy the sub concept request. Which Wich offers over 50 sandwiches on its basic menu,” she said.
Katy Ford, an elementary education sophomore, said she enjoys the changes made to dining in Twenty Something.
“I think it’s a good idea because it’s more healthy and that way students can make better food choices,” she said.
Baker said in addition to providing students healthy options, it also takes into account the different lifestyles of students.
“There’s one section of the menu that’s dedicated entirely to vegetarian sandwiches; we’ve heard a lot about students wanting vegetarian dining options on campus,” she said.
Ford said she thinks Which Wich made a good sandwich dining choice because of the variety.
“It lets students feel like they have more freedom to choose what they want,” she said.
Students fill in bubbles on a brown paper bag to indicate their sandwich preferences and can even draw on the back of the bags and hang them up on the wall to decorate Which Wich.
Emily Voss, a freshman biology students, said she’s glad to have Which Wich as a dining option on campus.
“It’s been good to have here. My favorite sandwich so far has been the turkey with lettuce, pickles, and provolone,” she said.
For students looking for anything from gyros to turkey, or even wanting to take on the Wicked Wich, which features several kinds of meat and is loaded with the students’ choice of veggies and other toppings, Which Wich will definitely be a dining option to check out.
