NFL Week 2 power rankings

Brady

After a battle of grit and grind, here's the NFL Week 2 power rankings.

1. New England Patriots (2-0)

The Patriots have outscored their opponents 73-3 through their first two games. I don’t see them regressing heading into Week 3.

Offensive MVP: Tom Brady- 20-for-28 for 264 yards and two TDs along with a rushing TD

Defensive MVP: Jamie Collins- five tackles, 0.5 sacks, and two interceptions (pick-6)

Breakout Player: Antonio Brown- four receptions for 56 yards and one TD

2. Kansas City Chiefs (2-0)

Mahomes put on a show for the second-straight week and the defense looked good holding Oakland to 10 points.

Offensive MVP: Patrick Mahomes- 30-for-44 passing for 443 yards and four TDs

Defensive MVP: Basaud Breeland- eight tackles and one interception

Breakout Player: Demarcus Robinson- six receptions for 172 yards and two TDs

3. Los Angeles Rams (2-0)

The Rams dominated on both sides of the ball as they look to make a deep playoff run for the second-straight season.

Offensive MVP: Cooper Kupp- five receptions for 120 yards

Defensive MVP: John Johnson III- six tackles, one pass defended, and one interception

Breakout Player: Cooper Kupp- five receptions for 120 yards

4. Dallas Cowboys (2-0)

The Cowboys' offense puts on a show once again as they score 30-plus points for the second-straight week. Their defense looked shaky at times, but should improve this week as Robert Quinn returns from suspension.

Offensive MVP: Dak Prescott 26-for-30 for 269 yards passing and three TDs, five rushes for 69 yards

Defensive MVP: Byron Jones- eight tackles and one pass defended

Breakout Player: Devin Smith- three receptions for 74 yards and a TD

5. Baltimore Ravens (2-0)

Lamar Jackson has another big game as the Ravens beat the Cardinals 23-17. This Ravens team will go as far as Jackson takes them.

Offensive MVP: Lamar Jackson- 24-for-37 for 272 yards passing. two TDs and 16 rushes for 120 yards

Defensive MVP: Brandon Carr- seven tackles, one sack and one QB hit

Breakout Player: Brandon Carr- seven tackles, one sack and one QB hit

6. Green Bay Packers (2-0)

The Packers improved to 2-0 as Aaron Jones erupted for 116 yards rushing. The Packers' defense also had a great game, forcing two turnovers.

Offensive MVP: Aaron Jones- 23 rushes for 116 yards and one TD, four receptions for 34 yards

Defensive MVP: Blake Martinez- 13 tackles

Breakout Player: Aaron Jones- 23 rushes for 116 yards and one TD, four receptions for 34 yards

7. Seattle Seahawks (2-0)

The Seahawks improved to 2-0 after Russel Wilson led them to victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Seahawks' defense was led by K.J. Wright and Bobby Wagner, who combined for 15 tackles.

Offensive MVP: Russell Wilson- 300 yards on 29-for-35 passing and three TDs

Defensive MVP: Bobby Wagner- seven tackles and one pass defended

Breakout Player: Rashaad Penny- 10 carries for 62 yards

8. Philadelphia Eagles (1-1)

The banged-up Eagles offense could not keep up with Atlanta as they lost 24-20. Look for the Eagles to rise when DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery return.

Offensive MVP: Nelson Agholor- eight receptions for 107 yards and a TD

Defensive MVP: Sidney Jones- six tackles, one interception and one pass defended

Breakout Player: Nelson Agholor- eight receptions for 107 yards and a TD

9. Atlanta Falcons (1-1)

The Atlanta Falcons had a huge bounce back week when they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 24-20 on Sunday night. The wide receiver duo of Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley blew the game wide open and looked to succeed heading into week 3 when they travel to Indanapolis.

Offensive MVP: Julio Jones- five receptions for 106 yards, two TDs

Defensive MVP: Desmond Trufant- two interceptions

Breakout Player: Calvin Ridley- eight receptions for 105 yards, one TD

10. Houston Texans (1-1)

The Texans' defense shined as they improved to 1-1, but need better offensive production if they want to continue to win games.

Offensive MVP: Carlos Hyde- 20 carries for 90 yards

Defensive MVP: Zach Cunningham- 10 tackles and a sack

Breakout Player: Zach Cunningham- 10 tackles and a sack

11. Los Angeles Chargers (1-1)

After a big game for the offense in Week 1, the Chargers were held to 10 points and lost to the Lions 13-10. Austin Ekler had another great week, rushing for 66 yards, receiving for 67 yards and scored a rushing TD. But it was still not enough.

12. New Orleans Saints (1-1)

After the Saints offense dominated Week 1, Brees went down with an injury in Week 2 and the Saints lost to the Rams 27-9. But if the Saints can win while Brees is gone, look for them to rise and to return to one of the NFL’s top teams after Brees’ return.

13. Chicago Bears (1-1)

The Chicago Bears won on a field goal as time expires, improving to 1-1. Although Trubisky struggled, the Bears were able to pull off a narrow victory against the Broncos.

14. Minnesota Vikings (1-1)

Although the Vikings had another big game from Dalvin Cook, they were not able to beat the Packers and lost 21-16. The Vikings rushing attack looked great through two weeks.

15. San Francisco 49ers (2-0)

After a defensive domination in Week 1, the 49ers' offense steamrolled the Cincinnati Bengals and improved to 2-0. The 49ers' offense looked great as they totaled 572 yards.

16. Cleveland Browns (1-1)

The Browns' defense had a bounce back week as they held the Jets to only three points after allowing the Titans to score 43. Look for the Browns to rise if Baker Mayfield and Odell Beckham Jr. continue to connect for big plays.

17. Detroit Lions (1-0-1)

The Detroit Lions improved to 1-0-1 when they beat a tough Chargers team at home. The Lions' defense looked great, only allowing the Chargers' offense to score 10 points after scoring 30 in the previous week.

18. Tennessee Titans (1-1)

After a strong offensive showing in Week 1, the Titans fell to the Colts 19-17. Look for them to bounce back in Week 3 when they face the Jaguars.

19. Indianapolis Colts (1-1)

The Colts squeezed past the Titans to win a close one on the road and improve to 1-1. The Colts' offense was lead by Jacoby Brissett, who threw for 146 yards, but shined in the red zone, throwing for three touchdowns (Hilton, Ebron, and Campbell).

20. Buffalo Bills (2-0)

The Buffalo Bills' rushing attack improved them to 2-0, scoring three TDs as they beat the Giants 28-14. The Bills rushed for 151 yards and were led by Frank Gore, who rushed for 68 yards on 19 carries and a TD.

21. Pittsburgh Steelers (0-2)

The Steelers fall to 0-2 as “Big Ben” Roethlisberger went down with a season- ending injury. The success of this team will heavily rely on backup QB Mason Rudolph.

22. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-1)

Although it was a very sloppy game, the Buccaneers beat the Panthers 20-14 on Thursday night. The strength of the Bucs was definitely their rush defense and contained McCaffrey to just 37 yards.

23. Carolina Panthers (0-2)

As Cam Netwon struggled down the stretch in Week 2, the Panthers fall to 0-2. The Panthers were unable to score a touchdown throughout the entire game.

24. Arizona Cardinals (0-1-1)

The Cardinals loss another close game as they fell to the Baltimore Ravens 23-17. Kyler Murray threw for 300 yards for the second-straight week and made his case for Rookie of the Year.

25. Denver Broncos (0-2)

The Denver Broncos dropped their second game in a row when the Bears drilled a field goal as time expires. The Broncos need to create turnovers if they want to get going on the right track.

26. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-2)

The Jacksonville Jaguars' bold call to go for two at the end of the game stabbed them in the back as they fell to 0-2. Although Gardner Minshew has stepped in, it was not enough to make them a top-25 team.

27. Oakland Raiders (1-1)

The Oakland Raiders dropped to 1-1 after a tough game against the Chiefs. Although rookie running back Josh Jacobs had another great game, quarterback Derek Carr struggled tremendously.

28. Washington Redskins (0-2)

Washington dropped to 0-2 in divisional games when it loss to Dallas 31-21. The Redskins' defense has no answer for their opponents.

29. Cincinnati Bengals (0-2)

The Bengals' defense got steamrolled for 572 yards and fell to the 49ers 41-17. The Bengals were held to just 25 yards rushing in the loss.

30. New York Jets (0-2)

The Jets' offense was held to only 3 points as Sam Darnold continues to battle mono. Bell also struggled in the rushing attack, only gaining 68 yards on 21 carries.

31. New York Giants (0-2)

As Saquon Barkley continues to make his case for being the best running back in the NFL, the Giants continue to struggle as they fell to 0-2.

32. Miami Dolphins (0-2)

The 2019 Dolphins have absolutely nothing going for them after being outscored 102-10 in two weeks. I don’t see them moving from the No. 32 spot anytime soon as they face Dallas in Week 3.
