Stillwater Music Festival: Blues & More to bring smooth vibes to Stillwater

Stillwater Music Festival 2019

Friends of the Stillwater Community Center will be hosting the Stillwater Music Festival: Blues & More this Friday and Saturday.

The Stillwater Music Festival: Blues & More will be hosted Friday and Saturday night at the Stillwater Community Center, featuring two evenings of free live music with food trucks and raffles. The shows begin at 6 p.m., with different performances each night.

Friends of the Stillwater Community Center (FSCC) is hosting the event, which originally began in 1998. Barb Osteen, an FSCC Board Member, said the event is an annual celebration

"Downtown Stillwater Main Street planned a special event to celebrate the musical heritage of blues," Osteen said. “Annually in September, hundreds of people gathered at the Stillwater Community Center to enjoy music, arts, food and fun at the Stillwater Blues Festival. National, regional and local performers filled the air with blues and other genres of music around this historical building.”

In the following years the event was renamed the Bikes-N-Blues Festival and grew through a collaboration between the City of Stillwater, the Stillwater Community Center and the Harley Owner’s Group. The last Bikes-n-Blues Festival was held in 2009.

The FSCC revitalized the event last year. Jennifer Marriot Band headlines the performances on Friday, with other showings from MORGAN, Reagan and Reilly and The Val Gladden Band on Friday. On Saturday, audiences can enjoy music from Garrett “Big G” Jacobson Tres Dudes, Bobby "Green Shoes" and Casey and The Heroes.

Osteen said the coombination of local music and local food into one community-oriented, family-friendly event should be a unique experience.

“We hope people will come down and enjoy some of their favorite local bands and also experience some bands and sounds that will be new to our area,” Osteen said. “It's mom's weekend at OSU and moms might enjoy hearing some really good music that's not in a bar or club. The food and beer will be outstanding.”
