Glen S. Krutz was announced as the new dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs Gary Sandefur announced on Tuesday that, pending approval from the OSU/A&M Board of Regents, Glen S. Krutz has been named the new dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Krutz is a tenured professor at the University of Oklahoma who currently serves as Senior Vice Provost, Professor of Political Science, and Headington Hall Faculty-in-Residence, according to his biographical sketch. He is currently responsible for instruction, general education, student retention and graduation, academic advisement, enrollment management, multi-disciplinary studies, research compliance, and State Regents’ matters at OU. He is also a mentor to 384 student residents at OU’s Headington Hall.

Krutz was one of four finalists for the position. He received significant support from many people involved in the interview process, according to Sandefur’s announcement.

Bret Danilowicz served as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences for six years before accepting the position of Provost of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida, in 2018. Jeanette Mendez has been serving as interim dean since he left.

Krutz is expected to transition to OSU about July 1.
