“God of War III” will be released March 16 for the PS3 and will retail for $59.99.

Spring break is almost here and most students are looking forward to taking the week off from classes.

Not everyone has a trip planned, though. So if you are stuck in Stillwater for the duration, like me, you might want to check out some of these video games being released this month.

What is old is new again with Capcom’s release of “Mega Man 10.” Like 2008’s “Mega Man 9,” this download-only game goes back to the series’ roots, featuring old school Nintendo graphics and sound. Gamers who didn’t cut their teeth on the unforgiving difficulty of the older games will be happy to learn that Capcom has included an “easy mode” this time around. “Mega Man 10” is currently out on WiiWare, and comes out Thursday on Playstation Network and March 31 for Xbox Live Arcade, all at $10.

One of the spring’s biggest releases has to be Square Enix’s “Final Fantasy XIII.” Released Tuesday, this marks the debut of the main Final Fantasy series on the Xbox 360, but it is also available on the Playstation 3. The game features the breathtaking graphics, strong combat and storytelling the series is known for, but some fans have expressed concern over decisions to streamline certain aspects of the game, making it more linear than past entries. It still looks like a solid addition to the series, though. “Final Fantasy XIII” is out now for Xbox 360 and PS3 for $59.99.

Fans of the Pokémon series can once again “catch ‘em all” with this Sunday’s release of “Pokémon: HeartGold” and “SoulSilver” versions. As the names imply, they are remakes of the 2000 classics “Pokémon: Gold” and “Silver” versions. In addition to giving players another chance to explore the Johto region, gamers will be able to catch Pokémon that have been unobtainable in more recent games. And as is tradition with the series, the only major difference between the versions will be the availability and location of certain Pokémon, with both versions getting a few exclusives. Both versions will be available for the Nintendo DS on Sunday for $39.99.

Many Playstation 3 owners have been waiting since the day they bought their system for this next release. “God of War III” has a lot to live up to, and if early reviews are any indication, it does. Featuring what many reviews are calling some of the most memorable fights of this console generation, it looks like this is what PS3 fans have been waiting for.

The interesting interpretations of Greek mythology and brutal violence the series is known for are present, and it looks like this will be one of the best games in the PS3’s library. “God of War III” will be released March 16 and retails for $59.99.

Whatever your system, you really can’t go wrong with any of these great titles.
