Business will hit a high note when a Pennsylvania musician comes to Oklahoma State University on Friday.

David Cutler, a composer, musician, writer and professor at Pittsburgh's Duquesne University, will speak at a creativity event hosted by the OSU's Institute for Creativity and Innovation and the School of Entrepreneurship.

Cutler will emphasize how using creativity in the workplace can be profitable, said Institute for Creativity director Melanie Page.

"Coming out of college, more and more people have a college education, so it's not as special as it used to be," Page said. "Employers are looking for students who can write and students who can think. So if you can show them that you have writing skills and that you can think creatively and analytically, then you're heads above your competition."

Page said this presentation is a good, different twist that can help students think outside their course plan and consider other classes that could help them develop.

"There's really no better place for creativity and innovation than a university," Page said.

The institute is known for doing unique things. In spring 2011, they attempted to break the world record for the largest Twister board on the Library Lawn.

The institute was created in 2009 to help OSU students enhance their abilities.

The presentation is free and goes from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in Business Building room 204.
