Sophomore right-hander Randy McCurry is done for the season with a torn ligament in his right elbow, coach Frank Anderson said Wednesday.
The injury occurred in the first game of the season at the Dodgertown Classic on Feb. 26 against USC.
McCurry came in to relieve junior left-hander Mike Strong in the eighth inning and sustained the injury on his first warm-up pitch.
In McCurry's freshman season, he served as the Cowboys' closer, tying the OSU record for saves in a season with 10, and led the team with a 2.16 ERA.
"That hurts us because he was going to be a big part as both as position player and a pitcher," Anderson said.
