Every year, greek freshmen from OSU get the chance to be featured in a popular tradition known as Freshman Follies.
The show consists of musical productions featuring the freshman from campus fraternities and sororities. Each production features 20 to 30 members, male and female, Choreography Committee Director Ben Brammer said. Performances began earlier this week and continue through Saturday.
“The show has become really popular and the musicals will be performed before a sold-out audience this year,” Brammer said. “All tickets for each of the five days of shows sold out within 2 hours when we started selling tickets and that was two weeks ago.”
In Freshman Follies, teams submit applications to be considered in tryouts, and once they make the cut they have about three months to create and perfect their routine.
Brammer said Follies is a serious competition. The musicals performed are carefully scrutinized by a panel of judges consisting of various experts in the live production field.
Up for grabs are a number of trophies, not just first, second and third, but categories such as best costumes, most humorous and the best male/female participants.
